Energy Efficiency

Olicar is an accredited ESCO (Energy Service Company) and the leading Italian company for the integrated planning and management of energy services, and as such can sell and buy energy efficiency shares (white certificates) through bilateral agreements or on the platform run by GME (Gestore del Mercato Elettrico, the Italian electricity market operator). Olicar proposes, designs and manages the best technological solutions to maximize energy saving for any kind of property, whether public or private, guaranteeing clients the highest standards of innovation and reliability in the service.

A concrete example can be seen in the management of energy services for the Province of Milan: in five years of management (2002-2007), Olicar has managed to reduce the thermal energy requirements (fuel for heating) of the Province of Milan’s properties by 20%, emissions of carbon dioxide by 20%, nitrogen oxides by 40% and sulphur dioxide by 90%. In part thanks to these results, the provincial authority was presented with the “Sustainable Energy Europe Award 2008”, an award established by the European Union for the best local public initiatives in energy efficiency.
